Maria Neil is happy to welcome back Pita Brooks with her latest collection of conceptual works.

Rooted in ideas of uncertainty, consequence, and inaction, the works present an outcomes equation where each "if" holds the potential for a "then," though not always in ways we expect.

If This, Then That
is a new body of work by multimedia artist Pita Brooks that explores the unpredictable logic of human motives through everyday objects. Drawing from the language of causality and probability, Brooks uses familiar forms to reflect on how we construct meaning, anticipate outcomes, and grapple with accountability—or the lack thereof.

Viewers are invited to trace these conditional paths, where the work raises questions about responsibility and the fragile mechanics of cause and effect.

In If This, Then That, nothing is certain—but everything matters.

About the Artist:
PitaBrooks

Pita Brooks is a multimedia artist influenced by many facets of the living world, exploring those interests through an evolving, materials-driven practice. Her work reflects a deep curiosity about human behavior and the spaces where art, culture, and environment intersect. She engages with a wide range of media to investigate the textures and patterns of lived experience—both personal and collective.
In addition to her studio work, Brooks co-runs newsense projects, a Lakewood-based gallery committed to fostering inclusive dialogue and experimental approaches to art-making. Her collaborative and community-oriented ethos is informed by years of experience in arts institutions, including leadership and operations roles at SPACES, moCa Cleveland, and the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Whether creating tactile installations, layered visual works, or curatorial experiences, Brooks approaches her practice as a conversation with the world around her—one that values process, connection, and discovery.

The public area outside the Gold Building will soon be receiving a new resident. Waterloo is happy to welcome the first large-scale sculptural work from the minds of Bob Peck and David Biro with, Line of Sight.

Bob originally designed the piece in small-scale, hand-cutting each component out of foam core. From there, he deconstructed the sections, enlarged and printed them as full size templates for David Biro.
David then handcrafted the structure, including design tweaks to maintain the work’s sleek aesthetic, while adding durability and stability.
Once constructed, Bob applied his signature paint style. Throughout the piece, you'll see painted angles and shapes layered on top of fabricated ones to create a maximum sense of depth and movement.
Line of Sight is pure abstract, bringing a bold burst of color and energy wherever it stands.

About the Artist:
BobPeck

Bob Peck began his artistic journey in the early 1990s as a passionate graffiti enthusiast. His fascination with urban art began at a young age, when he first encountered a large, colorful spray-painted name on a building while walking to kindergarten with his mother. This moment sparked a lifelong interest in the scale and impact of graffiti as an art form. As a teenager, Bob immersed himself in the graffiti subculture, connecting with local writers who mentored him and helped shape his creative vision.

After more than a decade of active involvement in graffiti, Bob expanded his artistic horizons by attending gallery shows, where he began to exhibit his own work. Initially, he translated his graffiti style onto canvases with vibrant spray-painted backgrounds, but over time, he found himself increasingly drawn to the fluidity and expressiveness of the backgrounds themselves, gradually evolving toward abstract painting.

Today, Bob has refined his unique graffiti-inspired abstract style and has exhibited his work in over 125 shows, alongside numerous public art projects throughout Northeast Ohio. His art has earned recognition and has been included in private collections across the United States, as well as in China, India, and the United Kingdom.
Bob Peck's creative evolution reflects his deep connection to the urban art world, and his ability to adapt and innovate within both graffiti and abstract art.
