Other hours by appointment. Multidisciplinary artist Rick Rollenhagen presents a curated look into his artistic world. Maria Neil Art Project is excited to partner with stone carver, printmaker, painter, drawer, and overall Renaissance man Rick Rollenhagen for a trip through his world of many mediums. Says Rollenhagen, "The central assumptions in my practice of stone carving are that stones are the bones of the Mother Earth and that stone carving is a primitive form of spirituality... Additionally, to paraphrase Barbara Hepworth, my left hand which holds the chisel is my thinking hand, whereas my right hand which holds the hammer is my motor hand." "Through the process of carving the stone, I attain a meditative state whereby the blows of the hammer to the chisel follow the beats of my heart." - Rick Rollenhagen |
